Making a ritual of the ordinary
Small habits that give an otherwise busy day a softer edge.
Before the day begins
A fictional morning starts with a window opened and a glass of water placed on the table. The sequence is simple enough to repeat without planning.
A little consistency
A ritual is not necessarily elaborate. It might be putting tools away before leaving a workbench, or reading a page while a kettle warms. Its usefulness comes from marking a transition.
The action says that one part of the day has ended and another is beginning.
Keep it small
Choose something already present in the day. Give it a little more attention. There is no streak to maintain and no perfect version to achieve.
If the ritual starts to feel like another obligation, make it smaller. Its purpose is to make the day easier to inhabit.
