The smallest useful version
In this fictional build log, the goal is simple: record a project expense and see it again tomorrow. No subscriptions, no charts, no elaborate onboarding.
The prototype needs a description, an amount, and a date. Everything else can wait until the basic interaction feels right.
What changed while building
Editing turned out to matter as much as entering data. A fast input form is only useful if a mistake is easy to correct. The next iteration puts those two actions on equal footing.
Next on the list
- Add a clear CSV export.
- Test the empty state with a first-time reader.
- Explore a weekly summary before building more charts.
There are no revenue or customer claims here. This is a sample of how a side-project journal can capture decisions as they happen.
